Factors That Can Affect the Efficiency of Your Cigar Humidors
Are you having difficulty maintain the proper humidity levels inside of your cigar humidors? Cigar experts recommend that your cigars be stored in an environment where the temperature is approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit and the relative humidity levels are between 68-72%. Cigar humidors are designed to provide these ideal ranges in order to protect and preserve the integrity of your cigars. However, there are various factors that can affect your humidor’s performance.
Regardless of whether your cigar humidors are placed inside of your home or an office, you need to be aware of the factors that can affect your cigar humidors ability to perform. For example, the humidity levels inside of your home can affect the performance and operation of your humidor’s humidification system. Additionally, the use of air conditioners, heaters, and open windows can drastically alter the level of humidity inside of a home within a short amount of time.
Other factors that can affect the ability of cigar humidors to perform include air circulation within a home and its exposure to direct sunlight. These factors can lower the humidity levels inside of a home or office. When you are determining where to place your cigar humidors in your home or office, you should avoid placing them where they will be exposed to vents, fans, or windows. Doing so will affect the ability of cigar humidors to protect your valuable cigars.
Finally, if you must place your cigar humidors near a window, bear in mind that the sun sits lower in the sky in the winter than it does during the summer. This can cause the sun to actually shine further into a window than it does in the summer, when the sun is overhead. For example, cigar humidors that are placed on a coffee table or desk in the summer may need to be moved in the winter because the sun is shining right on it.
